Long Way Down

Few days ago while I was surfing, I spotted a link about Long Way Down, which is a journey taken by two celebrities Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman to cross from Scotland to South Africa on their motorbikes, and going through various countries including Libya, I found it quite exciting and felt a sense of proud to see my own country been explored and shown on tv for different reasons this time, and that to be part of a good cause. The journey was to raise the awareness of UNICEF projects, which are in progress or to be started in some of the poor African countries, and to visit different charity schemes in this continent, anyone could contribute to these projects by visiting the website and donate some money.

The BBC will be airing this journey in the autumn and I am already looking forward to it, I do like this type of programmes, they would allow me to explore the world from my own sitting room and see different world and that’s one of the reasons that I think BBC is a great network in making documentaries such as this. You could check their blog and the their experience in this fascinating adventure by visiting the Long Way Down page, I leave you with this clip where Ewan McGregor, one of the Star Wars leading men enjoying the glory of Leptis Magna.

A moment of an embarrassment

This morning while I was travelling to work by train to Preston, a lady next to me talking to her companion about if there is a drink and snack trolley in this train, so she said I’ll ask the conductor, the conductor replied there’s no snacks services in this train all the way to York and that’s two hours of travelling, but she said they could come off the train for a couple of minutes at Preston and she make sure that the train doesn’t leave without them, alternatively they could wait till they arrive at Bradford, at that point the passenger said “Bradford! No no Bradford is iffy “the conductor replied “I live in Bradford” there was a moment of dead silence, then a burst of laughter from everyone, while the lady covering her face from the embarrassment.

Harry Potter at home for breakfast

Ding Dong, its exactly 8 o'clock in the morning the door bell rang, I rushed to open the door and I knew in advance who is at the door, it is Harry Potter himself! Well it is acutely the Postman looking out of breath as if he is been in the middle of running the marathon, he was delivering the latest edition of the most popular children book ever.
Before I opened my mouth he gasped "Harry Potter, and I have over 300 deliveries to do this morning" and as soon as he said the word "Harry" I could hear running feet from upstairs rushing down the stairs. My son appeared and grabbed the parcel with great excitement, we opened it together and he looked at the book with so much of admiration, excitement and kind of relief that the waiting game is over and now he got his copy, he went straight up to lay down on his bed with his book and started reading it, he asked me if he could have his breakfast in bed why not I said, so he gets his book and I get couple of hours of peace and quite.
